Sonny Putthongvilai is a highly credentialed financial professional with over 18 years of experience in auditing, advisory, and forensic accounting. As a Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE), and Certified in Financial Forensics (CFF), Sonny brings an uncommon depth of expertise to every client engagement.

Sonny began his career in the “Big 4” with PricewaterhouseCoopers, where he gained a solid foundation in financial statement audits, SEC compliance, and internal controls. He went on to hold senior roles with the Board of Equalization as a Tax Audit Supervisor and with the Alameda County District Attorney’s Office as a Forensic Auditor — where he supported money laundering investigations, analyzed falsified financial statements, and even qualified as an expert witness in cases involving fraud, grand theft, and tax evasion.

Most recently, Sonny served nearly a decade as a Forensic Accountant at Gursey | Schneider LLP, working alongside attorneys and clients on complex financial disputes, marital dissolutions, and asset tracing cases. He supervised litigation support teams, developed equitable property division analyses, and guided clients through high-stakes financial disclosures.

Sonny holds an MBA in Accounting and Finance from California State University, East Bay, and a Bachelor’s degree in Finance and Banking from San Francisco State University. He is an active member of the American Institute of CPAs and the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners.
